Wedding Gown Wednesday! Gown by Mark Zunino for Kleinfeld

May 16

I so love seeing a gown or idea sketched out and come to life. Maybe because that is what I do with my brides. I love the true Princess ]Gown by Mark Zunino for Kleinfeld

About Mark Zunino

Having cut his teeth in fashion dressing Tinsel-Town royalty under famed Dynasty costumer Nolan Miller, designer Mark Zunino created his debut bridal collection with the ultimate stars in mind. “I was inspired by Hollywood’s legendary fashion icons, such as a young Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Sophia Loren,” Zunino says. It’s a savvy place to begin, too, since those names resonate so strongly with bridal clientele. Zunino, a native of Northern California, will offer his distinct take on red carpet glamour this season, first with this voluminous ball gown, which features a strapless embellished bodice with a lace-up back. “A bride wearing this gown is sexy yet elegant, glamorous yet understated, and totally confident when all eyes are on her,” the designer adds.

Wedding Gown Wednesday! Reem Acra and Theia

May 9

Brides.com had a few designers sketch a fantasy gown Angelina Jolie’s upcoming wedding:

On the Left is the sketch from Reem Acra:

“When I envision Angelina in a wedding dress,” says designer-to-the-stars Reem Acra, “I am inspired by her classic elegance and effortless sex appeal. She is deliberate about her fashion choices and that sophisticated confidence makes for the perfect modern bride.” It’ll certainly take an Angelina-esque bravado to wear Acra’s ivory, double-faced silk crepe gown, which features a prominent center-cinched bodice, an off-the-shoulder neckline, and a flared skirt—the kind of figure-hugging silhouette that evokes the star’s steamier roles. One can even imagine Mrs. Smith slipping into such a gown, provided there’s room for a concealed weapon.

The gorgeous Sketch on the right is from Theia:

Seeing as how Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got engaged for the sake of their six children, it’s only fitting that Theia Creative Director Don O’Neill chose family as his inspiration for Angie’s wedding gown. “I envisioned Angelina as a wholesome sophisticated vision of the bride that her children imagine her to be, not her sexy red carpet signature style,” he says. “This one is for her family.” O’Neill’s fantasy design features a long-sleeve silhouette of French Chantilly lace over a corseted sweetheart bodice in silk mousseline and organza with a tulle appliqué hem. “The dramatic silk tulle veil is trimmed with lace to add mystery and allure,” the designer adds.

Happy Wedding Gown Wednesday!

I so love the skirt on this gown!

From Vera:

This is one of the pieces in the Spring collection that stands out for its simplicity: Hannah is an incarnation of that perfectly pristine, youthful, innocent performer, who’s going to ravish the crowd with the sheer beauty of her movements. It’s the romance of the Paris Opera, again, and of Degas’s elegant dancer, poised and fresh and ready for her grand jeté, evoked here in the layers and layers of elegant, fragile organza in Hannah’s ballerina ballgown skirt.

But where there’s flounce and softness to the skirt, you’ll find the exact opposite in the bodice: a structured, clean, dual bustier. The first layer is a natural waist gazaar bustier with a sweetheart neckline, while the outer layer is a rigid, detachable piece with trapunto stitching. It fits over the gazaar layer beneath, giving the bodice a beautiful level of texture and a very fitted construction.

The skirt for Hannah is very artful, with an abstract, degrade floral motif in motion all over: this is another example of the delicacy and delightfulness of laser-cut organza. It’s very sumptuous and very airy—our contemporary ballerina takes the stage, fresh in the bloom of youth.
